Unity 4 Trial key for you!

Postby SophieH » Wed May 08, 2013 2:26 pm

The nice folks at Unity have given me a trial key for anyone taking part in the fishing jam, it gives you cool stuff (Android Pro 4.x, Team License 4.x, Unity Pro 4.x, iOS Pro 4.x) and lasts for 35 days.

it has 100 activations tops, so if you're going to use it, do it sooner before they are all taken ;)

here's the key:
T3-WCNJ-2W3K-GDRC-4CBJ-TWXG

here are the instructions:
To download:

** Make sure to back up any current Unity projects prior to downloading your new software. **

If you already have Unity 4 on your machine, please follow these instructions to activate a newly purchased license, mobile/flash add-on or change machines:

http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/M ... cense.html

If you do not have Unity 4 on your machine, you can download Unity 4 from http://www.unity3d.com/download. A step to step guide can be found here: http://docs.unity3d.com/Documentation/M ... Guide.html

To Install the Team license (Unity Asset Server and Unity Cache Server), please visit: http://unity3d.com/unity/collaboration

If you want to keep version 3 active on your machine and also download version 4:

PC:

Install Unity 4.0 (http://www.unity3d.com/download)
When you install on PC it will select the previously installed directory - do not install here
Create a new directory named sensibly e.g. Unity_4
Name any shortcuts so you know which version you are launching
Hold alt when you launch to force unity to let you choose which project to open (otherwise it will try and upgrade the last opened project)
Choose your projectname_4 directory to open your backed up project

Mac:

Find your existing Unity application folder and rename appropriately e.g Unity35
Install the Unity 4.0 (http://www.unity3d.com/download)
Name any shortcuts so you know which version you are launching
Hold alt when you launch to force unity to let you choose which project to open (otherwise it will try and upgrade the last opened project)
Choose your projectname_4 directory to open your backed up project

If you're new to unity, they have a new tutorial section on their website, and it's pretty neat:

Aah, cool :D. I was on the fence, but I guess I'm going to have participate now because I took one! This is really good for me actually as my main idea sort of hinged on having image effects. Hopefully it's not too much for me in a week though... I am pretty noob-ish with those things.

Tell me, is there any way to claim the registration key and install later/move the registered installation?!

AFAIK the only way to use the key is the way described up there.

This is really actually cool of the people over at Unity. I'll definitely have to buy a Pro license next time I have a spare $1500+ around.
