Today's fish is trout a la creme [Finished]

Hello,

Hope your games are all coming along as well as you hope

I have now ran out of time so it is what it is but took a tad longer than I hoped (Blame the British summer for that! Those of you in this country no that you must go and play outside when presented with any kind of sun haha!)

A lot of it looks really crude but the basics are pretty much there.

* UPDATE - Found some horrible bugs with the Fish scripts which made it really hard to actually find any too catch ha

I've tweaked the A.I. and how the fish are generated so hopefully it is more playable now.

http://www.trickpie.co.uk/FishingGameV2/WebPlayer/WebPlayer.html

I have not deployed over the original so what was "Achieved" within the jam timescale is still there. :)

Original Build http://www.trickpie.co.uk/FishingGame/W ... layer.html

Rules
You have 3 Mins to catch as many fish as you can!
The bigger the fish the more points it is worth
Every fish caught will add 30 seconds to your time!
Watch the tension meter when catching the fish. Too high or Too low and the fish will get away!

Controls
Boat
Arrow Keys to navigate the lake
When stopped left and righ shift the rod
Press Space bar to cast the line

Fishing
Hold Space to reel in
Use the arrow keys to change the camera angle

Outstanding things if i was to really finish it off
Some kind of levels rather than the Arcade one shot type game
Improve the look of the line
Use some better fish
Fishing Sounds

Bugs
Flying fish!! Can't work out why this happens!
Plenty of overlaps on the objects
You can row the boat into the terrain oop
Probably lots more

*Edit here are some photos of the final game for those of you with out the ability to install Unity Web Player :)

Sea View under

End of Day 1.

The Fishing rod is just there for novelty at the moment but you get the picture of what the above water plan is :)

Hi - end of day Two & I must say it has been SLOW GOING! (Damn Blender Rust)

Managed to create a fishing rod using blender and built up the "Flick" animations.

Next on the list was attempting to add underwater effects - had some success with code that triggers a fog effect once below the water line(see results below)
Tomorrow I will attempt to build on the flick animation and actually cast a line into the water. Hopefully if I get time I will add reeling in too! :)

#FishingJam - Update 4 - End of day Three

Fish!
Started out the day with the intention of building the reel mechanism but hit a brick wall attempting to create the line so will need to dedicate more time to this. Job for the weekend!

After the initial problems halted my progress I decided to dedicate the rest of the evening to pure fish creation! - Started going down the route of 8-Bit style fish(Possibly with the intention of incorporating this into my game somehow) or I will be smoothing the edges out later in the week!

#FishingJam - Update 5 - Basic Casting

Casting!
Reasonable amount of progress this evening! Managed to wire up the basic casting - i.e. the rod animation is activated and the Bob is sent flying into the lake

Just need to add some code to allow the bob to revolve around the fishing pole to simulate the pre cast motion :)

I have added the latest update as a video using vine so it makes more sense :)

you can view it either on:

Vine: https://vine.co/v/bVajxu1JHmq
My website: www.trickpie.co.uk

Hope everyone else's game is coming along well! Really gonna have to decide what direction this is going in tomorrow haha!

Really nice progress.

I've never really played many fishing games so I don't know what is standard, but I really like the camera being on the mushroom thing.

Also if you want to record on your computer I've found Open Broadcaster Software to be pretty good. It is designed for streaming to twitch etc. but you can also set the broadcasting location to you computer and it creates a video file. I guess you have a vine app on your phone though which I assume makes recording effortless =)

Anyway good luck with your game, looking great.

Thanks!

I've only ever really played Sega bass and can't remember off the top of my head if that did the same with the camera but I'm pretty sure it was a similar thing

Cheers for the advice on Open Broadcaster I'll give it a try
