Bit more Work. Be warned a lot of this stuff probably wont make sense to anyone but me, its a collection of thoughts from tonight's progress, mainly experimenting with different control methods, siren positioning, and boat behaviors.
I'm almost happy with the boat movement, i still think it needs some time to mess with, it doesn't quite feel natural quite yet, also I've got multiple sirens singing at the same time. Unsure if this helps. it just seems to confuse matters.
I found in portrait, there wasn't enough horizontal space to properly control the ship with 3 Sirens, the middle one became useless. it did work well, with 2, but that seemed a little different from what I wanted, perhaps that would be a little too simple? I might come back to that idea another day.
Each boat has a desired pitch. Hitting that pitch with a siren will cause them to go towards the siren. being close to that pitch causes the boat to move towards the siren at a slower pace.
I'm thinking of having the pitch range of each siren be slightly different, so you kinda tune the siren to the sound you want.
Associating boat movement with different desired pitches means that players must control multiple boats, by switching the pitch of a siren according to the boat they need to control at the time.
I think the siren audio need more variance so they don't sound so bad in unison, (but again i might change it back to one singing at a time), I might manually pitch shift some files to a scale so everything is in tune, rather that whats there at the moment.
Also, I made a vine.
