Ahab

Ahab is a small project that my friends and I have been working on. It's a minimalistic, first person, sea monster hunting game.

As you can probably tell, it's inspired from Herman Melville's Moby Dick. We started the project in October, but then we all got jobs and production slowed down. I scrapped the code a couple months ago and rebuilt everything. I'm praying this 7day game jam will be a push for me to get the core loops polished enough to show it to you all.

Gameplay: Sail the open sea and hunt for the legendary white beast. Avoiding icebergs as you track and search for surfacing. Trek carefully though, you are being tracked as well.
Only with your mix of Harpoon, Sea Mines, and Cannons can you attempt to understand and conquer this legendary beast.
Ahab will tell his story of obsession and starvation for revenge as you embark and clash against the Moby Dick.

Okeee, here's some progress shots. Lot's and lots of tuning for the beast. His attacks are giving me a tough time with the targeting system I implemented.

Here's the open sea. It's cold outside! (Those are supposed to be icebergs)

So we have an ocean, we have buoyancy, we have a beast, a ship, weapons.

The Beast's attacks; 4 are to be implemented, 1 is done, 1 in progress, 2 not started. I'll post the doc I have to illustrate them soon.

There's also a few embarrassing bugs ^_^

Thank the old gods and the new it's a 3 day weekend! I have my work cut out for me!

Moby right now has 3 attacks
Attack from below
Circle and Close
Straight Away

Anyhoo, still lots of work to do but it's getting there.
Moby's attacks need a lot of tuning I feel and I also want to add whales to hunt during quite moments.
