Fishing for Parasites

Postby BeardoGames » Wed May 29, 2013 2:17 am

Hey all,

I'm totally late on the draw, but I've got enough of the game working to have confidence that I'll actually have time to finish it.

So! That said, my game is Fishing for Parasites, a game about using an endoscope to 'fish' for parasites in your patient's GI tract. Guide the endoscope using the keyboard keys. Touch the sides of his or her insides and DEAD. Double back on your endoscopic cable and DEAD. In true arcade game fashion, things get faster as you keep playing, and the parasites go deeper and deeper into the intestines.

I should have some screens and/or a fully playable game within the next day or so.

From a technical perspective, I decided to take the slightly weirdo move of using Processing to code the game since it's super easy to prototype in (and just fun to use in general).

Re: Fishing for Parasites [NOW PLAYABLE]

Ohhhhkay, after a few setbacks and scheduling issues, I've finally got Fishing for Parasites done and available for play. Mac, Windows, and Linux versions are available.

Super simple, use arrow keys to move and spacebar to start when dead. try and grab the little red parasites out with your weird fishing line. The lower the parasite, the higher your score, so go for the easy close one or the challenge shot!

I'd love to hear anybody's feedback!

Great work :) really challenging! Only managed to navigate the first layer of pipe-age

What happens if I make it all the way to the 'Exit'?

Thanks a lot! It was a blast to make!

There's actually no special outcome right now for getting to the 'exit' (hah) but I plan on fleshing this out using an engine that's more fully suited to games than Processing, and I've got a few ideas of what might happen in that case :)

Hello! This is quite challenging to get to the second parasite :)

One small doubt... Does Processing make the exe file? Thanks!

I'm glad you found it challenging!

I'm not sure what you mean about the exe file though. It does make the exe file as part of exporting the application.
