You, are the fish.[at least watchable now]

This is where the games and development logs go! :D

You, are the fish.[at least watchable now]

Misread the instructions so I thought the jam's theme was about fish, not fishing. GONNA GO FOR IT ANYWAYS.
Starting tonight on a game about being a fish, with an emphasis on AI. Player control over it's fish is inconsequential at this point, but will be there. My main inspirations are Ant farms and Fish tanks but I'm going to code what ever my designer and "feature creep beater" comes up with. Just apparently now have to throw in the occasional fishing hook to make the game relevant to fishing.
Using:
    processing for js engine
    Azure for dev
    server in nodeJS

EDIT:
i'm a bit of a funk because I couldn't spend time on this project. Hopefully I'll have a job in a few days though :/ Here's the link. It makes for a nice aquarium.

that sounds interesting, i love AI experiments. And i'd say don't worry about the theme too much, the rules state:
If you say it's a game then it's a game, if you say it relates to fishing then it relates to fishing.

Very impressive! The AI looks very good. I like how they move in group.

Can you say more about how it works? How does the grouping behavior works?

Don't know what exact style he used but the general term for this is flocking behaviour/simulation. Some related terms would be: crowd/swarm simulation. Just google those words and you'll see a lot of articles.

Here's some explanations:

That's correct, I took the boid algorithm and applied a bit of behaviors, noise and dampening to add personality. I made the red fish arrogant.

Thank you. Here's the explanation I used to create this.

Wow! Very impressive reading. It's brilliant how it doesn't actually uses a real collision system. I've never heard of a system like that.
